COPE EXPECTATIONS FROM THE MINISTER OF FINANCE

The ANC government has destroyed the economy of our country. Today, SA faces serious economic challenges. High unemployment rate with more and more people going to bed on empty stomachs.

Congress of the People expects the Minister of Finance to inform the country how he plans to address the financial crisis at Eskom.
We need to know if are any plans to recover the stolen money from the Guptas and Bosasa?
We expect concrete program to create sustainable job opportunities.

COPE wants to hear from the Minister that:
• VAT is reduced from 15% to 10%.
•E-Tolls is scraped immediately.
•Tax breaks to companies that are employing more than 10 youths in permanent positions.
•Access to free education, for all students from ECD to first degree at University.
•Increase for old age pensions to R3.500 pm.
•We want to hear that all vegetables and chicken be exempt from VAT.

COPE calls upon the Minister not to use this budget as an electioneering tool.
We urge the Minister to put the interest of the country first and not that of his party – the ANC.

These are crucial times, not the time for Minister to be a populist and lead the country deeper into a dark hole. END-
